Candidates Officially Start Filing Tomorrow For 2019 Primary Election
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY —The 2019 primary may be months away, but activity for candidates officially begins Wednesday, Jan. 9. Even though several candidates have already expressed their interest in running, that is the first day candidates can file declarations for the primary. Filing will end at noon Feb. 8.
Many Warsaw voters are already aware there will be a race for the position of Warsaw mayor. But in addition, Warsaw residents will be voting for clerk-treasurer, common council districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and two common council at large seats.
In Winona Lake, voters will see the positions for clerk-treasurer and council districts 1, 2 and 4 up for grabs.
The town of Syracuse will be voting for the position of clerk-treasurer and council districts 3, 4 and 5.
Small town filings also begin tomorrow, but those positions have a deadline of noon on Aug. 1. Claypool, Etna Green, Leesburg, Mentone, North Webster, Sidney, Silver Lake and Pierceton will have positions open for election of clerk-treasurer and three town council positions.
Each Candidate must file a CAN-12 “Statement of Economic Interest” in order to be placed on the ballot. Forms are available in the Kosciusko County Clerk’s office and one the county website: www.kcgov.com under the “Forms” link under “More Information.”
