Raymond Gerald Maurer
Raymond Gerald Maurer, 85, Winona Lake, went home to be with the Lord at 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on March 10, 1933, in Altoona, Penn. to Raymond Gerald Maurer, Sr. and Elsie Grace (Sipes) Goldberg, and was raised by his mother and step-father Louis Goldberg. On June 2, 1956, he was married to Carol Margaret (Sell) Maurer, who survives.
Mr. Maurer was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake. He was a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 49 years where he worked for 13 years in the print shop for United Telephone Company, later working at Mid-West Rake Company in Warsaw until his retirement. He was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, enjoyed photography, wood working, reading his Bible, and most of all he especially loved his grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Carol Margaret Maurer, Winona Lake; two sons: Stephen (Mary) Maurer, Fayetteville, Ark.; Mark (Kathy) Maurer, Mesa, Ariz.; and his daughter: Susan (Bill) Lehman, Warsaw. Also surviving are five grandchildren: John Maurer and Stephanie Maurer (Fayetteville, Arkansas); Jeremy Lehman, Seattle, Wash.; Emma Lehman and Michael Lehman, Warsaw; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Louis Goldberg.
His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Kip Cone and Bruce Barlow. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. There will be an hour of calling prior to the service at the church from 10-11 a.m.
