NORTHFIELD GIRLS 56, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 52
Valley ran into its first Three Rivers Conference loss of the season with a four-point setback at Northfield Thursday night.
The Norse maintained a slim 37-36 lead after the third quarter, but got the break it needed when Valley superstar Sophie Bussard fouled out with with two minutes left in the fourth. Bussard finished with 16 points, but without her presence, Northfield was able to close out the job to get to 5-1 in the TRC standings.
Valley, which falls to 4-1 in the conference, also had Jillian Walls score 16 points, a season high.
The Lady Vikes, which saw its seven-game winning streak come to a halt, will take on Class 3-A No. 11 NorthWood at home Tuesday night.
WARSAW FRESHMAN BOYS 31, NORTHRIDGE 29
In the first of three contests within the program this weekend, the Tigers used a buzzer beater from Kyle Dawson to pull out the win.
Ridge hit a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go to tie the contest at 29. On Warsaw’s final possession, Hunter Rice worked into the Raider lane, found Dawson, and the Tiger big man sent up an eight-footer that fell as the final horn sounded. Dawson finished with 17 points to pace the Tigers while teammate Judah Simfukwe added seven points.
The Tigers won its eighth straight game to move to 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference and will be in action on Jan. 10th when it hosts Goshen for their final home game of the season.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 8TH GRADE GIRLS 41, SOUTHWOOD 22
Valley got the ball rolling on its season with a win over the Knights. Corinna Stiles led the Vikes with 13 points, Kaydence Mellott added nine points and Lily Ault and Rily Holloway both had eight points.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 7TH GRADE GIRLS 35, SOUTHWOOD 8
A big season opener for the Valley girls with Macy Peterson and Ava Smith leading the team with 12 points each and Chesnee Miller chipping in eight points.
