Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:52 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, East CR 800S, east of South CR 300E, Claypool. Driver: James C. Shuster, 25, East CR 800S, Claypool. Shuster advised he was driving west on East CR 800S and came up over a hill when his vehicle struck the back of a parked, unoccupied vehicle on the side of the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
8:11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, East CR 900S, east of South CR 100E, Silver Lake. Driver: Michael A. Lewis, 27, South High Street, Warsaw. Lewis stated he swerved to avoid striking a deer that entered the roadway. This resulted in Lewis’ vehicle going off the south side of the road and striking a utility pole. Damage up to $25,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
9:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, Epworth Forest Road, North Webster. Driver: Santiago C. Gonzales, 32, South Kinder Drive, Syracuse. Gonzales stated he was in a parking lot and heading south when he decided to make a U-turn. He stated he did not see the utility pole until he struck it with his vehicle. The NIPSCO utility pole snapped and fell to the ground. Gonzales complained of left rib pain but refused medical treatment or transportation from EMS. Damage up to $5,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:29 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, Ryerson Road, west of CR 900E, Pierceton. Driver: Kyle A. Reed, 16, West Old Trail Road, Pierceton. Reed’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $2,500.
