SYRACUSE — Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence winner Oakwood Resort announced their beach area will host a Polar Plunge fundraiser.
The Polar Plunge will take place Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, with registration opening at 11:30 a.m. and the Plunge beginning at noon. The net proceeds from the event will benefit Turkey Creek Fire Department, which provides fire, rescue and paramedic services to the citizens of Turkey Creek Township and the town of Syracuse. With a combination of career and volunteer staff, they staff two stations 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.
Priced at $15 per individual or $50 for a team of six participants, prizes will be awarded for Best Team Costume and Best Individual Costume. Those interested in the “Fire and Ice” Polar Plunge may pick up registration forms anytime at the front desk of Oakwood Resort. Payment may be made by cash or checks made payable to the Turkey Creek Fire Department.
Beginning at 11 a.m., chili and grilled cheese sandwiches will be the lunch features at the on-site restaurant and bar, The Pier and Back Porch. The full lunch menu will also be available along with drink specials. Following the plunge, SoulShot, featuring John Kirkwood, will provide fun, danceable music from 1 to 4 p.m.
