Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:44 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, East SR 14, east of South County Farm Road, Silver Lake. Driver: Vickie L. Coughenour, 55, South Pine Street, Akron. Coughenour told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
10:38 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, Packerton Road, north of South CR 400E, Winona Lake. Driver: Lara M. Miller, 62, North Market Street, North Manchester. Miller told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on Packerton Road when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
5:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, East CR 1050N, west of North CR 350E, Milford. Driver: Tyler G. Stump, 20, West CR 100S, Kimmell. Stump told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 1050N when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
5:44 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, North SR 13, north of East CR 500N, North Webster. Drivers: Jack K. Stein, 24, North Pike Street, Wabash; Kathryn M. Gerke, 28, East CR 250N, Pierceton. Stein told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 13 when the vehicle driven by Gerke stopped ahead and he could not stop in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $10,000.
12:33 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, East Wooster Road, Warsaw. Driver: Brittanie L. Prater, 24, East Keith Street, Pierceton. Prater told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on Wooster Road when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a fence. Damage up to $10,000.
11:42 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, East US 30, east of East CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Ernie E. Morrison, 56, South Buffalo Street, Warsaw; Myron C. Magill, 56, Bermuda Drive, Miamisburg, Ohio. Morrison told police he was driving a Lewis Salvage dump truck westbound on US 30 when contents of a dumpster he was hauling flew out and struck the roof of the truck driven by Magill. Damage up to $2,500.
8:59 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, West SR 25 and South CR 1300W, Mentone. Drivers: John J. Richard, 36, Main Street, Rochester; Ricky L. England, 68, North CR 900E, Mentone. Richard told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on SR 25 when he took a drink of coffee and it splashed into his eye. He said the next thing he realized, the vehicle driven by England had slowed to turn and he did not have enough time to slow in order to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $25,000.
12:02 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, East Ryerson Road, west of South SR 13, Pierceton. Driver: Brock M. Bays, 22, School Street, Winona Lake. Bays told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Ryerson Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
3:01 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, North Kern Road, Syracuse. Driver: Robert E. Wenzel, 43, Prairie Drive, Syracuse. Wenzel told police he picked up his daughter at Syracuse Elementary School and was looking at her while she asked him a question and stated he did not see a pedestrian in the path of his vehicle, causing his vehicle to strike the pedestrian, who complained to the police of pain to her knee. Damage less than $750.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:16 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, SR 15, south of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Jenna R. Sam, 32, East CR 150N, Pierceton; Kelli J. Michael, 38, West Holderman Road, Silver Lake. Sam told police she was driving her vehicle behind the vehicle driven by Michael and stated she thought Michael was going to continue driving through the intersection. She said when Michael’s vehicle slowed, her vehicle collided with the rear of the vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:41 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, South Country Club Road and Sycamore Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Justin B. Rogers, 23, North Jefferson Street, Silver Lake; Thomas K. Ryan, 59, East Wildwood Drive, Warsaw. Rogers told police he was driving his vehicle northbound behind the vehicle driven by Ryan when he looked down at his cell phone, which resulted in his vehicle striking Ryan’s vehicle in the rear. Damage up to $2,500.
7:23 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, East US 30 and South CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Garlie H. Webb, 70, South Market Street, Burket; Laura M. Kerwin, 31, Fireside Court, Fort Wayne. Police reported that both Webb and Kerwin were driving their vehicles eastbound on US 30 when vehicles in front of them stopped suddenly, causing a rear-end collision between the vehicles driven by Webb and Kerwin. Damage up to $10,000.
