Alger Takes The Reins Of North Webster Utilities Department
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Town Council welcomed Jayne Alger as the new utilities manager for Infromark. The company contracts with the town for the position. She replaces Mike Noe who has accepted the position of Syracuse town manager-public utilities manager.
In the absence of Clerk-Treasurer Betsy Luce, who was ill, the council tabled purchase of new heaters for the waste treatment plant. Also tabled was the request from North Webster American Legion Post 253 for a sewer rate adjustment. No one was present from the Legion.
In the utilities report Noe thank the council for his time there and explained Alger had been with the town about five years coming from a similar position in Ligonier. Clarifier repair is almost completed. Brush and leaf pick up will continue as weather permits.
Police Chief Greg Church noted North Webster Lions Club asked about moving some of the carnival food vendors to West Washington Street for the Mermaid Festival. Since that portion of the street is already closed for the event, the council saw no problem. It is hope their visibility from SR 13 will draw more of a crowd.
Police officers undertook 230 calls of service in November with the most, 42, being traffic related. They worked 603.75 hours, drove 3,783 miles and used 322.2 gallons of fuel.
Attending were Alger, Noe, Church, council members Lisa Strombeck, Dave Walizek, Dan Thystrup, town attorney Jack Birch and park board secretary Tammy Waliczek.
The next meeting of the council will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St.
