Warsaw Man Arrested For Battery Causing Moderate Bodily Injury
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after police say he hit a male victim in the face, causing injury.
Juan Manuel Ortiz, 39, 1317 Green Hill Drive, Warsaw, is being charged with battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Dec. 6, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a male victim. The victim advised that he and Ortiz were having a disagreement regarding the sale of a mobile home.
According to the victim, Ortiz became angry and started hitting him on the face with a closed fist, causing him to fall to the ground. The officer was able to observe and photograph multiple bleeding injuries to the victim’s face.
The officer read Ortiz his rights and he agreed to talk. Ortiz advised that he and the victim were having an argument when the victim grabbed his shirt. Ortiz then admitted to hitting the victim three times on the face with his fist.
A witness also stated they saw Ortiz hit the victim.
The victim had to be transported to Parkview Hospital to treat his facial injuries.
Ortiz was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 5, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. He has an initial hearing scheduled for Dec. 27.
