Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko
Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
2:02 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, South SR 19, north of West CR 800S, Mentone. Drivers: Sidney R. Ousley, 17, North CR 600E, Rochester; Hazel Schultz, 48, South Caldwell Lake Road, Claypool. Schultz told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 19, approaching the flashing yellow light at CR 800S, when the vehicle driven by Ousley turned west into the path of her vehicle. She said she was unable to avoid a collision with Ousley’s vehicle. Police reported Ousley could not remember what happened prior and during the collision. Police cited Ousley for driving while suspended and failure to yield. Ousley was transported by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with a severe leg injury. Schultz, along with her passenger, Daniel Schultz, 27, North CR 500E, Rochester, were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by ambulance. Hazel Schultz complained of pain to the neck, chest and left arm and Daniel Schultz complained of knee pain. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:44 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, US 30 and East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Jodi L. Rogers, 38, Cambridge Court, Decatur; Joan M. Napier, 85, East Ryerson Road, Pierceton. Rogers told police she had been having problems with her vehicle’s braking system for several days and said she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30, approaching the intersection with Old Road 30 when she attempted to stop, even applying the emergency brake, but was not able to avoid a rear-end collision with the vehicle driven by Napier. Damage up to $5,000.
2:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Adrienne R. Phelps, 33, East CR 225S, Winona Lake; Charles D. Hunter, 80, EMS B40A Lane, Leesburg. Phelps told police she was backing her vehicle out of a parking space at Culver’s and did not see the vehicle driven by Hunter, causing the collision. Damage up to $5,000.
