K County Roller Derby Treasurer Charged With Theft From Organization
KOSCIUSKO — The treasurer of the K County Roller Derby group was recently arrested after she took money that belonged to the organization and used it for personal use.
Kimberly Row Schmucker, 46, 3645 N. SR 13, Pierceton, is being charged with corrupt business influence, a level 5 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 15, a representative of the K County Roller Derby group arrived at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to report a theft of funds. She advised that she was contacted by the owner of East Lake Skate and was informed that the group was behind on payments for renting the facility.
The representative told the officer that Schmucker has been the treasurer for the group for three years and believes she had been taking funds from the group for personal use without permission. Schmucker was taking the money between February and November. The representative provided text messages to the officer in which Schmucker admits to taking the money for personal use with the consent of others in the group.
The total amount that the group was missing amounted to $1,595
Schmucker was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 9, with a $2,150 surety and cash bond.
