BETHANY CHRISTIAN 45, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 27
A gonzo third quarter decided the girls basketball game at the Mennolands.
A 16-6 run by Bethany in the third quarter spaced out what was a nine-point Bethany lead at the half into a 19-point advantage after the third quarter, 37-18 Bethany in charge.
LCA had just three players score in the game, with sisters Jessi and Tori Calizo netting 11 points each to go with 13 rebounds and three steals. Anna Reimink added five points and four steals.
Anya Kauffman led a balanced attack for the Bruins with 13 points, one of nine players that had at least two points in the game.
LCA (5-5) will host Trinity Saturday afternoon.
NORTHRIDGE 56, WAWASEE 30
Wawasee took its crack against the reigning Northern Lakes Conference champions and ran into a determined Morgan Litwiller.
Litwiller dropped 27 points, nearly catching Wawasee by herself. Litwiller had 11 points in the first half and then scored 11 points in the third quarter as Northridge went from a 24-20 lead at the half to a 22-6 third quarter and a 48-26 bulge.
Rhian Galloway led Wawasee with seven points and three steals, and Hannah Lancaster and Caitlin Wortinger each scored six points, Lancaster adding four rebounds.
The JV game was all Northridge in a 46-13 final over Wawasee. Ten different Raiders scored in the game, led by Erin Mahaffa’s nine points. Kennedy White had six points for the Warriors, while Becca Smith had four points and seven rebounds.
Wawasee (2-7, 0-1 NLC) will host Goshen Friday night.
