Warsaw Woman Arrested After Killing Cat
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman is facing charges after allegedly killing a cat that belonged to the woman she was staying with.
Patricia J. Zeringue, AKA Patricia J. Baca, 40, 716 W. Center St., Warsaw, is being charged with cruelty to an animal, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of cruelty to an animal. The officer spoke with the caller by phone. The caller reported that Zeringue killed a woman’s cat. Zeringue was reportedly staying with the woman at the time.
When police arrived at the home, the female homeowner advised that Zeringue was inside the residence. Officers then spoke with Zeringue, who allegedly admitted that she killed the cat belonging to the female she was staying with.
The owner of the cat stated the cat was buried in the back yard in a cardboard box. She retrieved the box and showed the officers. Inside the box was the cat belonging to the homeowner.
Zeringue was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on Tuesday, Nov. 27, on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
