Sugg’s Historic Outing Leads To Crossroads Award
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of November 26 through December 2. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Brooke Sugg, Grace
Sugg turned in scoring outputs of 40 and 32 points to lead Grace in a pair of wins. The senior guard shot 65.9 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from deep, while averaging 36.0 points and 2.5 steals per outing for the Lancers. Sugg’s 40-point game was the first-ever 40-point performance for a Grace women’s basketball player at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Evan Maxwell, Indiana Wesleyan
Maxwell led No. 1 IWU to an overtime win at No. 6 Mount Vernon Nazarene with 39 points and 13 rebounds and then scored 21 points in 24 minutes against Goshen. Maxwell averaged 30.0 points and 9.0 boards, while shooting 71.4 percent in the two Wildcat wins.
