Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:48 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, East CR 800N, west of North CR 500E, North Webster. Driver: Layne M. Meeks, 51, West Cromwell Road, Ligonier. Meeks told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 800N when a raccoon entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the raccoon with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
6:04 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, South SR 25, north of Rozella Road, Warsaw. Driver: Frank R. Reiter, 50, South CR 175W, Warsaw. Reiter told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 25 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, South Buffalo Street and Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: J.D. Aughinbaugh, 72, East CR 1200S, North Manchester; Dara L. Matthews, 31, South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Aughinbaugh told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on South Buffalo Street, approaching the intersection with Winona Avenue and could not stop his vehicle in time to avoid a rear-end collision with Matthews’ vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
5:34 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, East Center Street and Argonne Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Paul A. Ruckman, 34, East CR 900S, Claypool; Rodney L. Smith, 67, Merriam Park Drive, Fort Wayne. Smith told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Center Street and was stopped at a stop light. Smith said his vehicle was impacted from the rear and that the driver of the other vehicle left the scene. The other driver, identified as Ruckman, was later located and arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and driving while suspended. Damage up to $2,500.
4:06 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, North Parker Street, north of US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Justin M. Deslauri, 20, Cherry Street, Hebron. Deslauri told police he was driving his vehicle southwest on North Parker Street when his vehicle was impacted by a passing vehicle. The driver of that vehicle left the scene, according to Deslauri. Damage up to $2,500.
