Warsaw Man Sentenced For Sexual Misconduct With Minor
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was sentenced in Kosciusko County Superior Court I on Thursday, Nov. 29, on charges related to engaging in inappropriate behavior with a minor female.
Matthew Glenn Schultz, 43, 920 Anchorage Road 19, Warsaw, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor, a level 4 felony. In May, officers responded to a report of sexual misconduct with a minor.
When officers arrived, they spoke with a female minor. The minor reported that oral sex had taken place.
Schultz’s attorney, Joseph Sobek, told Judge David Cates that Schultz himself had been a victim of abuse in the past. Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Brad Voelz stated that aggravating factors outweighed any mitigators.
“We don’t abuse children – you did,” Cates said to Schultz.
Cates sentenced Schultz to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, with one year to be suspended and served on formal probation. Schultz will be required to register as a sex offender and was ordered to have no contact with the victim. He received 98 days of jail time credit.
