Police Identify Warsaw Woman Hit By Train On Wednesday
WARSAW — The Warsaw Police Department has identified the female pedestrian who was struck by a train on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Martha Sharp, 36, Warsaw, was walking on the tracks around 4 p.m. in the area of East Fort Wayne Street. The northbound train struck her backside, which threw her off the train tracks. Sharp suffered from a head injury and was transported to Lutheran Hospital.
Witnesses told officers that the train blew its horn several times before the accident.
All downtown railroad crossings were closed for several hours while the incident was investigated by local police and train officials.
