Science Central Planning To Build Public Planetarium
FORT WAYNE — Science Central wants to build northeast Indiana’s only public planetarium.
The $2 million project will be a permanent exhibit at the attraction in an unused area of the building. The money would cover start up, demolition, construction, staffing and equipment.
The public planetarium would incorporate the original starball from the University of St. Francis and a modern digital system to show Earth, the Solar System and the Universe.
The full project is expected to take one to two years. Science Central already has a little over $1 million pledged but is still looking for private corporate and foundation sponsorships.
