School And PTO Seek Assistance For North Webster Students
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Elementary School and its PTO are partnering together this holiday season to bring extra Christmas cheer to those in need through a Christmas assistance program. While preparing for a joyous holiday celebration with friends and family, it’s important to reflect in the joy and blessing in your own life while also being aware not everyone is so fortunate.
In order to fund this program financial donations from the community are being sought. Last year approximately 90 kids and their families were assisted and received a gift to open Christmas morning. What better way to celebrate Christmas than by sharing what you have with neighbors who are in need of assistance to meet their basic needs. Your generosity will have a positive impact on families in need. Every gift matters, no matter the size.
In past years the North Webster Lioness Club, with the help of other organizations in the community, have provided Christmas assistance services for North Webster Elementary School students. Because the club will not be doing the program this year the school and the PTO felt it was important to step in and continue in a similar fashion for students.
North Webster Elementary School has close to 50 percent of the students on free and reduced lunch programs. To qualify for the reduced lunch program a family of four could make no more than $46,435 a year. NWES and PTO are partnering together to offer these families supplemental Christmas assistance including food for the household, clothing, books and a toy for each child.
Please contact Jenny Douglas, (260) 413-9458 or gjdouglas06@gmail with any questions or if you would like to assist and partner in any way. Deadline to receive donations is Friday, Dec. 7. Write Christmas in the memo line of the check.
