Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:38 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, East Defreese Road, east of North CR 300E, Milford. Driver: Steve Allen, 49, EMS D24 Lane, Syracuse. Allen was traveling west on Defreese Road when two deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
8:13 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, South CR 400E, south of East CR 500S, Pierceton. Driver: D.L. Dockter, 72, North SR 13, North Manchester. Dockter was traveling north on CR 400E when a deer ran into the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
8:36 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North SR 13, north of East CR 350N, North Webster. Driver: Mark A. Alfano, 56, East CR 300N, Warsaw. Alfano was traveling north on SR 13 when he attempted to make a phone call. As he did so, his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Alfano complained of leg pain and sustained a cut to his left ear. He refused EMS. Damage up to $10,000.
12:52 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, West CR 1350N, west of North CR 700W, Nappanee. Driver: Kyle T. Heckaman, 23, East High Street, Atwood. Heckaman was traveling west on CR 1350N when he lost control of his vehicle on the slush-covered roadway. His vehicle went off the roadway and struck a fence. Damage up to $10,000.
12:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, West CR 1350N, west of CR 700W, Nappanee. Driver: Brenda R. Yoder, 47, West Nottingham Drive, Nappanee. Yoder was traveling west on CR 1350N when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. Yodel’s vehicle went off the roadway and struck a fence. Damage up to $25,000.
12:04 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North CR 850E, near East Koher Road South, Syracuse. Driver: Mercedes Pena, 52, East Camelot Lane South, Cromwell. Pena was traveling south on CR 850E when her vehicle slid on the snow-covered roadway, sliding into a ditch. Pena complained of a headache and was transported to the hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
12:04 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, South County Farm Road, south of West Hoppus Road, Warsaw. Driver: Bradly A. Johnson, 46, East CR 700S, Claypool. Johnson was traveling south on County Farm Road when he lost control of his vehicle on the slushy roadway. His vehicle struck a fence. Damage up to $2,500.
10:46 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North East Wawasee Drive, south of East CR 1250N, Cromwell. Driver: Samantha J. Schmucker, 35, North Beau Peep Lane, Cromwell. Schmucker was traveling south on North East Wawasee Drive when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to slide off the east side of the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
9:29 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, East CR 500N, east of Brown Road, North Webster. Driver: Ya Ker, 20, Oakwood Drive, Fort Wayne. Ker was traveling east on CR 500N when he lost control of his vehicle on the ice-covered roadway, causing his vehicle to hit an embankment and roll into its roof. No injuries were reported by the five occupants in the vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
9:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, SR 13, north of East CR 1150S, North Manchester. Driver: Zoe A. Dockter, 19, North SR 13, North Manchster. Dockter was traveling north on SR 13 when she lost control of her vehicle on the ice-covered roadway. Her vehicle struck a guardrail. Damage up to $5,000.
9:08 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North CR 200E, near East CR 900N, Milford. Driver: Adam R. Allen, 19, West Section Street, Milford. Allen was traveling eastbound on CR 900N when he crashed into the iron gate of Salem Cemetery. Damage up to $5,000.
7:59 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, East US 30, west of South CR 900E, Pierceton. Driver: Frank De La O, 26, East Mountain Quail Court, Columbia City. De La O was traveling west on US 30 when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy covered roadway, causing his vehicle to go into a ditch. Damage up to $1,000.
7:43 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Gregory J. Handel, 44, East Willis Park Drive, North Webster. Handel was raveling on a private drive when his vehicle slid on the ice-covered road, causing him to rear-end a park, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
6:47 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, East US 30, east of East Van Ness Road, Pierceton. Driver: Piedad Pena, 50, South Ferguson Road, Warsaw. Pena was traveling east on US 30 when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to spin into a ditch. Damage up to $1,000.
10:06 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, North CR 325E, south of East CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: Daken F. Ault, 18, East Walnut Street, Warsaw. Ault was traveling south on CR 325E when he drove off the roadway and overcorrected, causing his vehicle to spin and collide with a ditch. Damage up to $5,000.
3:59 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 205 S. Elm St., south of Spring Street, Etna Green. Driver: Norma J. Rhodes, 68, West Broadway Street, Etna Green. Rhodes was backing her vehicle when she struck a utility pole. Damage up to $2,500.
8:53 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, East CR 225S, west of South Country Club Road, Warsaw. Driver: Tracey A. Miner, 44, East Columbia Street, Pierceton. Miner was traveling west on CR 225S when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
4:34 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, East CR 700S, near South CR 400E, Claypool. Driver: Parnell Peconga, 37, East CR 850S, Claypool. Peconga was traveling on CR 700S when he swerved his vehicle off the roadway to avoid a deer. As a result, Peconga’s vehicle ran up an embankment, causing him to roll his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
4:55 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, East US 30, south of East Van Ness Road, Pierceton. Drivers: Gary A. Young, 36, East CR 950S, South Whitley; and Jameson A. Devinney-Stoner, 32, Bayview Drive, Fort Wayne. Young was traveling south on Van Ness Road when he continued through an intersection and struck Devinney-Stoner’s vehicle, causing Devinney-Stoner’s vehicle to exit the roadway and roll onto its passenger side. Devinney-Stoner sustained lacerations to his face. A passenger in Devinney-Stoner’s vehicle, Cortney L. Carpenter, 28, Fort Wayne, had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both Devinney-Stoner and Carpenter were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for further medical treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
3:48 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, East Old Road 30, west of South CR 600E, Pierceton. Driver: unknown. Dispatch received a call regarding a suspicious person. Upon arriving at the scene, an officer observed a vehicle with heavy damage. Blood was noticed on the driver’s seat. It appeared the vehicle was traveling west on Old Road 30 when it went off the roadway and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. The driver is unknown at this time, and the vehicle has not been reported stolen. Damage up to $10,000.
9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, North Turkey Creek Road, west of East Wawasee Lane, Syracuse. Drivers: Brandon L. Taylor, 28, West Washington Street, Donaldson; and Daniel J. Buell, 38, East Country Cove Drive, Syracuse. Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Syracuse Police Department, and North Webster Police Department were pursuing Taylor, who had outstanding warrants. After Taylor’s vehicle collided with a Syracuse police vehicle, a pursuit continued north on Turkey Creek Road. Taylor’s vehicle collided with the rear end of a white pickup truck when Buell drove up next to Taylor’s vehicle and attempted to box him in. Taylor then drove around the pickup truck, colliding with Buell’s patrol car. At the end of the vehicle pursuit, Taylor attempted to run on foot, jumping in a channel to Lake Wawasee. Taylor was taken into custody. Damage up to $5,000.
8:54 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, East Koher Road South, east of East CR 900N, Syracuse. Drivers: Brandon L. Taylor, 28, West Washington Street, Donaldson; and Jason C. Longmire, 41, East Shady Lane, Syracuse. Longmire was following Taylor’s vehicle with his lights and siren on, trying to get Taylor to pull over. As they were going around a curve, Taylor lost control of his vehicle, only to take off again and collide with Longmire’s vehicle. After Taylor ran into Longmire’s vehicle, Taylor left the area. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:25 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, North Detroit Street, near Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Aaron J. Valentine, 38, East Market Street, Pierceton; and Danna G. Turcios, 20, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Turcios had a green arrow to make a left turn when Valentine’s vehicle struck the front of her vehicle. Valentine’s vehicle was traveling north on North Detroit Street when his vehicle crossed multiple lanes of travel, hitting a curb of an intersection and striking Turcios’ vehicle. Valentine complained of neck pain and Turcios complained of leg pain. Valentine was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where he submitted to a voluntary blood draw. Damage up to $25,000.
2:33 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, South McClellan Street, near Hackleman Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Dianna J. Shoemaker, 73, South Sherman Street, Warsaw; and Jeffrey A. Lotz, 68, East CR 950S S43, South Whitley. Shoemaker was traveling west on Hackleman Street when she began to pull out into an intersection. Shoemaker’s vehicle was struck by Lotz’s vehicle. Shoemaker complained of head pain and was treated on scene by EMS. Damage up to $10,000.
7:27 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, US 30, east of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Donald R. Bottorff, 72, East Division Road, Knox; and Jarod Kammeyer, 43, Market Street, Defiance, OH. Kammeyer was traveling westbound in the left lane of US 30 when Bottorff’s vehicle changed lanes, striking Kammeyer’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
