Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
6:33 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, SR 15, south of East Main Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Tammy K. May, 55, North Columbia Street, Warsaw; Christopher Plummer, 55, East Lake View Drive, Syracuse. May told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on East Main Street and turned right onto North Detroit Street. She said she then wanted to turn left into the CVS parking lot and moved her vehicle into the right lane, where it collided with the vehicle driven by Plummer. Damage up to $2,500.
3:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North SR 15 and Enterprise Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Bobbie T. Stump, 36, East Fawn Avenue, Warsaw; Joseph F. Kiel, 35, Hopkinton Drive, Fort Wayne; Brittany L. Hooley, 27, South CR 1000W, Mentone. Stump told police he was driving his vehicle on Enterprise Drive, intending to turn south onto SR 15. He said as he was making his turn, he did not realize that the vehicle driven by Kiel was also in the same lane and southbound. He said his vehicle struck Kiel’s vehicle, causing it to collide with Hooley’s vehicle. Hooley, nine months pregnant, was checked out by EMS and released at the scene. The other drivers were not injured. Damage up to $25,000.
1:39 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, Jalynn Street and SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Brenda J. Payton-Burnett, 63, Parent Drive, Warsaw; Robert S. Hiatt, 62, EMS B37 Lane, Warsaw. Payton-Burnett told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Jalynn Street and said she saw Hiatt’s vehicle stopped ahead of her. She said she attempted to stop but that her vehicle slid and collided with the rear of Hiatt’s vehicle. Payton-Burnett complained of knee pain, but refused to be transported to the hospital by EMS. Damage up to $2,500.
7:56 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, North CR 250E and US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Jose M. Perez, 34, West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw; Zachary J. Nusbaum, 25, North Superior Ave., Warsaw. Perez told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 250E and did not see Nusbaum’s northbound vehicle when he turned left into the path of the oncoming vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, South Buffalo Street, south of West Prairie Street, Warsaw. Drivers: David S. Miller, 33, East Paw Paw Pike, Peru; and James W. Leeper, 27, North Etna Road, Columbia City. Miller’s vehicle was approaching an intersection when it began to slide on the slippery roads. Miller’s vehicle rear-ended Leeper’s. Damage up to $5,000.
11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, SR 15 and US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Tylor M. Hall, 24, West CR 950S, Silver Lake. According to police, Hall was stopped after a hit and run accident involving a red SUV was reported. Police said Hall was located driving his vehicle southbound on SR 15. Police said Hall reported having hit a curb with his vehicle but not a guard rail as was reported. Police said they informed Hall that where the accident occurred, there is no curb, but a guard rail does exist. Police noted scuff marks on the tires of Hall’s vehicle. Police also reported that Hall had a prior suspended driver’s license. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:51 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, US 30, west of Van Ness Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Christopher P. Russell, 47, Troon Way, Fort Wayne. Police reported that Russell was driving his vehicle westbound on US 30 when his vehicle got caught in slush and left the roadway, ending up in an embankment. Damage up to $2,500.
9:54 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, South CR 250E, near Sunset Drive, Winona Lake. Drivers: Megan M. Sullivan, 17, East Legacy Lane, Winona Lake; and David D. Johnson, 70, West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw. Sullivan’s vehicle rear-ended Johnson’s. Damage up to $2,500.
