Lakeland Christian Academy To Hold Fall Play ‘Little Women’
WINONA LAKE — Lakeland Christian Academy’s theatre department will present the full-length drama “Little Women” written by Louisa M. Alcott and adapted for the stage by John Ravold, on Nov. 16 and 17.
A dramatization in one set of Louisa M. Alcott’s novel, “Little Women” is a story that never will grow old for its treatment of a mother’s love for her children and their appreciation. Who can forget tomboy Jo and her sacrificing her glorious hair to help finance her mother’s trip to Washington when the telegram arrived saying her father was dying? Or Jo writing “The Christmas Play,” rehearsing Amy in the fainting scene and then the playing of the drama on the fateful night when everything went wrong? Or her beautiful scenes with Little Beth when they both knew the Angel of Death was hovering near? Or of her going to New York, meeting Professor Bhaer in Mrs. Kirk’s rooming house, their comedy courtship and ultimate marriage?
Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets will be sold at the door; adults are $6, students and senior citizens are $4, and preschoolers are free.
