James ‘J-Me’ R. Boyd
James “J-Me” R. Boyd, 47, Rochester passed away at 8:02 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Wisc.
On May 7, 1972, James Robert Boyd was born in Rochester. He was a treasured son of Keith and Marcella Rudd Boyd. Growing up he shared his childhood with two brothers, Troy and Dan. During his high school years as a Zebra, he wrestled and played on the football team. In both sports he was known as a force to be reckoned with. In 1990 J-Me graduated from Rochester High School.
As an equipment operator, he was a loyal employee of the Robert Henry Corporation for many years until his health decline forced him to early retire. An American sportsman, he embraced the outdoors as a mushroom hunter to deer hunting, he enjoyed it all. More recently he enjoyed watching wildlife around his home.
J-Me Boyd was the proud owner of a unique collection of Batman memorabilia. He once visited Puerto Rico, and adopted a custom blended pup and returned home with him naming him Rico. With a huge heart and love for animals he owned a collection of rescue dogs, cats and snakes. He enjoyed horse back riding, owning a small herd of three full size and four miniature horses. To relax, he cruised around the farm on his New Holland Boomer-45, stacking the hay and manicuring the yard.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Bryce Velez of Appleton, Wisc.; parents: Keith and Marcie Boyd; two brothers: Troy Boyd and wife Leslie of San Pierre; Dan Boyd and wife Jeni of Tuscon, Ariz.; lifelong friend, Bernadine Velez of Peru; six nieces and nephews: Gabrielle, Jaxon, Charlize, Brooklynn, Zach, Maddie; aunts and uncles: Karen Clark, Kathy and Ron Moore, David and Linda Rudd, Debbie Powell, Bernard and Katie Rudd, Karl and Peg Boyd, Barb Boyd; and numerous cousins.
Preceding J-Me Boyd in death are his grandparents Hurndon and Finettie Rudd, Betty and Oren Boyd; uncles: Bob Rudd, Jack Rudd, Daryl Powell, Kent Boyd and Kenneth Boyd.
A celebration of the life of Mr. James R. “J-Me” Boyd will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St. Rochester. Pastor Thad Stewart will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Animal Shelter, 1540 Wentzel St., Rochester, IN 46975.
