Claypool Woman Charged With Battery After Police Say She Stabbed Husband In The Head
CLAYPOOL — A Claypool woman was recently arrested after police say she stabbed her husband in the head. The knife penetrated his skull and entered into his brain. According to her husband, this isn’t the first time she has stabbed him.
Marcella Jane Dillon, 58, 3019 W. Hill Lake Road, Claypool, is being charged with aggravated battery, a level 3 felony, and domestic battery causing serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony.
On Nov. 7, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic disturbance in Claypool. The couple advised they were in a verbal argument and the officer told Dillon to go into the residence and for her husband to stay in his barn until things calmed down.
Only 17 minutes later, the husband called 911 stating he had been stabbed by Dillon. The officer went back to the residence and observed Dillon walking from the barn back to her residence. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer requested Dillon to stop but she disobeyed. Officers were able to enter the residence and detain Dillon, who had a cut on her right hand.
Officers then entered the barn and discovered the husband bleeding from the left side of his head. According to the affidavit of probable cause, there was blood scattered around the inside of the barn. The husband told officers that his wife stabbed him with a knife while he was sleeping. He further advised that Dillon stabbed him in the face in 2016 in Wabash County.
Employees of Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne advised that the knife had penetrated the husband’s skull and entered in the brain. The stab wound caused bleeding on the brain.
Dillon was arrested on Nov. 7, but has since been released on a $10,250 surety and cash bond. She has an initial court date scheduled for Nov. 29.
