Panthers Pound Zebras
NAPPANEE – NorthWood stormed past Rochester, 64-17, Saturday for its third win of the season and first on its home court at The Pit.
NorthWood hounded Rochester from the start, holding the Zebras to just one field goal in the first quarter and two for the entire first half in building a 33-5 lead after two quarters of play.
The Panthers, meanwhile, continued to work on itself by getting several individuals involved. Kate Rulli led a balanced attack with 12 points, followed closely in scoring by Maddy Payne with 11, Kenzie Bergman with 10, Alea Minnich with nine, Kendal Miller with eight and Bre Wise with seven. Neely Trenshaw and Karlie Fielstra also hit three-pointers in the win.
Maci Brown wound up the high scorer for Rochester with nine points, all on made three-pointers. The Zebras made just one field goal inside the three-point arc and hit five from outside the arc in the game.
Rochester took the JV game by a 23-18 count to open the day’s play.
NorthWood (3-1) will hit the road for the historic North Side Gym Tuesday to play Elkhart Central. Rochester (2-1) hosts Peru Thursday to open Three Rivers Conference play.
