Wawasee Goes Cold At Westview
EMMA – Shooting troubles doomed the visiting Wawasee Warriors in a 54-36 loss at Westview Friday night in girls basketball.
Wawasee managed just one field goal in the third quarter, a three-pointer from Hannah Lancaster, and were just 2-10 from the free throw line in the second half. Wawasee was just 1-7 from the floor in the third, where Westview spread out a 41-24 advantage.
To boot, leading scorer Casey Schroeder had all 15 of her points in the first half where Wawasee trailed just 25-21 at the break.
Wawasee was 14-44 from the floor in the game (32 percent) and made just 4-14 free throws.
Westview had Ashya Klopfenstein and Gloria Miller do a bulk of its work. Klopfenstein hit 12 shots from the floor on her own to finish with 28 points and Miller hit eight field goals and had 19 points.
Wawasee came through with a nice 24-14 win in the JV game. Becca Smith led the way for the visiting Warriors with 10 points and six rebounds and teammate Ava Harker had four points and three rebounds.
Wawasee (2-2) plays again Tuesday at Lakeland.
