MARENGO, Ohio – Just in its third year of existence, the Grace College Shooting Sports Club recently made its first appearance at the 2018 SCTP Collegiate National Championships at the premiere Cardinal Shooting Center. Grace took five of its student-athletes to compete against 224 other collegiate athletes from 22 colleges and universities from across the nation.
Each of the five Grace students competed individually and as a team in four different shotgun disciplines including Trap, Sporting Clays, Bunker Trap, and 5-Stand. Over the three days of competition, mostly in the rain, each of the Grace students individually shot over 600 targets.
While not necessarily expecting to bring home any top awards this early in the program’s history, the Grace team was very pleased to have captured third place in their division for Bunker Trap.
As to what is next, the club will continue to practice throughout the winter in anticipation for more collegiate competitions in the spring.
