A big start again helped LCA to a lopsided win.
The Cougars opened on an 11-2 run in the first quarter, and spread out a 20-point halftime lead to run out to its second win of the season.
Tori Calizo led LCA with 20 points and sister Jessi Calizo had 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals. Anna Reimink had seven rebounds, six steals and four blocks to go with four points, Abigail Fishel had four rebounds and four points, and Caroly O’Hara pulled down four rebounds.
LCA moves to 2-0 on the season and will next play Tuesday at Churubusco.
SOUTH CENTRAL 46, TRITON 33
A huge second quarter pushed South Central to a win over the Trojans Thursday night.
The game, which was pushed up to accommodate the Triton regional football game Friday night, saw the Satellites rally from a 13-5 deficit to storm through a 22-2 second quarter, part of a 23-2 run overall.
Amber Wolf led South Central with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds and added seven steals. Abbie Tomblin added 10 points fueled by three made three-pointers.
Triton didn’t do itself any favors by committing 24 turnovers in the game and were just 2-12 from beyond the three-point arc.
Chelsea Johnson had 10 points and six rebounds for the Trojans, Lexia Hostrawser had nine points and five rebounds. Jaela Faulkner had eight points and Whytnie Miller tossed in seven rebounds and three assists.
South Central also won the JV by a 19-15 count. Seven Trojans scored in the game, but Abbey Viers’ four points was the high tally.
Triton (0-3) will visit Bremen Tuesday.
