Kenneth A. Spangle
Kenneth “Ken” A. Spangle, 85, Claypool, passed away peacefully at home at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018.
He was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Burket, to Margaret (Holloway) Spangle and Owen F. Spangle. He was married May 1, 1954, to Beverly “Joan” (Gall) Spangle. They were married for 58 years before she passed away on April 27, 2012.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a 1952 graduate of Silver Lake High School in Silver Lake. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, and served in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1955. He was a yard foreman for Miller & Son’s Lumber Company in Silver Lake for over 30 years. Spangle was a retired gentleman farmer until his passing. He was a devoted husband, a beautiful father and grandfather and will be sadly missed and forever loved.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Cindy (Morris) Jones, Silver Lake; Sharon (Jon) Lynch, Silver Lake; and two sons: James (Heidi) Spangle, Fort Wayne; Dan Spangle, Silver Lake. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Joshua (Sarah) Spangle, Warsaw; Ryann Jones, Indianapolis; Amy (Brett) Leach, Sidney; Nicholas Spangle, Warsaw; Morgan (Daniel) Martin, Brownsburg; Austin Jones, Silver Lake; Tanner Spangle, Warsaw; Emily Lynch, Silver Lake; and three great-grandchildren: Vivienne and Max Spangle, both of Warsaw; and Taytum Martin, Brownsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. His funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Silver Lake, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active duty members of the Army Honor Guard.
Memorial donations in Kenneth’s name may be directed to the American Legion Post #49, 301 N. Buffalo Street, Warsaw, IN 46580 and would be appreciated by the family.
