Cromwell Man Charged For Involvement In Burglary Spree
CROMWELL — A Cromwell man is facing charges for his involvement in a string of burglaries that occurred in August.
Chandler Michael Hyndman, 22, 1833 North SR 5, Cromwell, is being charged with three counts of burglary, level 4 felonies; and two counts of theft, level 6 felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 18, a male contacted the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to report that sometime between Aug. 17 and 18, unknown subjects broke into his attached garage and stole an air compressor, photogenic light, ammo box and two extension cords. On Aug. 20, a KCSD officer spoke with another male who advised that sometime between Aug. 19 and 20, unknown subjects entered his residence and stole a battery box, Dell memory box, checks and memory cards. On Aug. 30, a KCSD officer met with a third male who stated that on Aug. 30, someone entered his residence through a sliding glass door and removed multiple firearms, a compound bow, digital camera, crossbow, zero turn lawnmower and weed eater from his property.
Officers received information that stolen items could be located at the residence of Justin Ottinger in Noble County. After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the residence. They located two thumb drives that contained the personal information of one of the men who reported a burglary, as well as a tool bag, credit card, air compressor, crossbow and weed eater. Officers spoke with Ottinger, who admitted that he, Hyndman and two other males burglarized a residence and stole items.
Officers then spoke with Hyndman, who admitted that the four males burglarized a residence. He stated they stole the zero turn lawnmower and were driving it down the road. Hyndman advised the mower was going too slow so they pulled it into the weeds. Hyndman took the officers to the location of the zero turn lawnmower, and the mower was recovered.
Hyndman further advised that he and Noble burglarized the other two residences. Officers searched Noble’s residence and found a photogenic light, ammo light, two extension cords, a battery box, Dell memory box, banking checks and memory cards.
Hyndman was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Friday, Nov. 2, on a $12,000 surety and cash bond.
