Board Of Works Opens Bids For Airport Industrial Park Sanitary Sewer Project
WARSAW — Sealed bids were opened for the Airport Industrial Park sanitary sewer project during the Warsaw Board of Works meeting held today, Nov. 2.
Three bids were received and are as follows:
- Atlas Excavating, West Lafayette – $10,077,548
- Dunigan Bros, Jackson, Mich. – $6,619,992.20
- HRP Construction, South Bend – $6,090,000
The bids were taken under advisement and will be awarded at a future meeting.
A change order reduction was approved for the Clark and Colfax streets reconstruction. The project was a complete reconstruction, including sidewalks near Lincoln Elementary School. The project came in around $45,000 under budget. A recommendation of payment was also approved.
“I greatly appreciate looking out my window at times and seeing all the students and staff on sidewalks,” said Board Member Jeff Grose. Board members thanked the street and the building and planning departments for all their work on the project.
City Attorney Mike Valentine requested the board amend the contract for Hearing Officer Tom Earhart. Currently, his contract does not include the title of an administrative law judge. The added title would tie up his job description. The board approved this amendment.
With the contract amended, the Warsaw Common Council has the ability to approve a proposed ordinance that would allow Earhart to rule on items including other aspects such as city codes or building codes. Currently, Earhart only has the authority over zoning laws.
