Gary Lee Montgomery
Gary Lee Montgomery, 78, Bourbon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, in the Elkhart Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Montgomery was born on July 6, 1940, in Plymouth, to Lewis and Helen June Moore Wozniak Montgomery. He has been a lifelong resident of the Marshall County area. On Nov. 19, 1960, he married the former Norma Shearer. The Montgomery’s have enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Gary had been a truck driver since he was 16 years old. He was a member of the Plymouth, South Bend and Bourbon Kilwinning Lodge, Bourbon Kiwanis, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis and Eastern Star Past Patron. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, and especially helping others.
Those left to cherish Gary Montgomery’s memory are his loving wife, Norma of Bourbon; his children, Lee Ann (Bill) Finlay of Lancaster, Penn.; Shawn Alan Montgomery of Bremen; and Bill Finlay; he was further blessed with one granddaughter, Riley Ann Montgomery; special grandchildren, Andy Westafer and Ashlee Westafer; sisters, June McCarkle, Warsaw; Kandy (Richard) Schmucker of Warsaw; Tami (Tony) Miller of Leesburg; Tina (Mike) Clark of Milford; Jen (Jim) Shearer of Leesburg; Karen Frick of Warsaw, Betty (Danny) Hawthorne of Canton, Ohio; and Pam (David) Loftus of Mishawka; brother, Michael (Susan) Montgomery of Warsaw.
He was preceded in passing by his mother, father, two step-fathers, Richard Madden and Larry Wozniak, and his mother, Helen Jane Montgomery.
The Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements for the Montgomery family.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main Street Bourbon, IN 46504 at with Pastor Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Etna Green Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bourbon American Legion.
A time of visiting with the Montgomery family will also be held from 1-3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home.
