Harvey Dean Burns
Harvey Dean Burns, 82, of Macy, passed away at noon on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at Millers Merry Manor of Warsaw.
He was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Miami County to Claude L. and Marie (Tracy) Burns. He married M. Christine Hartman on June 3, 1956, in the Akron Brethren Church. She survives.
He was a farmer and worked in the Chili and Macy elevators. He then worked and retired from Sealed Power Corporation.
He was a 1953 graduate of Gilead High School, where he played basketball and softball. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Burns was always fond of John Deere tractors and enjoyed collecting them for many years. He was an avid North Miami sports fan, especially boys and girls basketball. He also liked watching auto racing and raced go-carts.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, of Macy; children: Jeffrey (Julie) Burns, Brian (Michelle) Burns, both of Macy and Joyce (Gary) Mosier of Silver Lake and Elizabeth Kraning of Denver; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Randy Hartman of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters Dawn Haupert and Marjorie Ihnen.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 West Rochester St., Akron with Rev. Wayne Balmer officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Macy. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church
