Sheila D. Reed
Sheila D. Reed, 69, North Manchester, passed away at 11:25 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Parkview Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born at Wabash, to Juanita France on Aug. 27, 1949. On May 31, 1969, she married Richard E. “Dick” Reed, spending over 50 years of commitment to each other.
Loved by many as Cookie, she enjoyed her time with family and extended a warm-hearted welcome to everyone she met. Painting houses for 20 years, she also enjoyed karaoke singing. She was a member of Manchester Bible Church, Wabash VFW Post # 286 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 85 at Huntington. She was proud of her Miami Indian heritage and will be buried beside her brother in the Frances Slocum Cemetery.
Her memory will live on in her survivors: husband, Dick Reed, North Manchester; two daughters: Jodi (Erik) Roach and Heather (Craig) Walters, both of Fort Wayne; her seven grandchildren: Libbie Roach, Addison Roach, Bella Roach, Taylor Roach, Ian Winebrenner, Riley Walters, and Brenden Walters, all of Fort Wayne. And one great-grandchild, Jaxon Page. She is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Judy) Gaines Jr., Wabash; and Tony Gaines, North Manchester. One brother, Steve France, preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2015.
Services will be held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 27, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Friends and family may call from 3-7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at McKee Mortuary and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Pastor Dave Stockland will officiate and burial will follow at Frances Slocum Cemetery, Wabash County.
