Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
12:06 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, North Kalorama Road, south of EMS T38 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Jerrold P. Blocher, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Blocher told police he was driving his vehicle east on Kalorama Road when a deer entered the roadway. He said he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
11:28 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, South County Farm Road, south of West Hoppus Road, Claypool. Drivers: Megan J. Pifer, 24, North Sycamore Street, North Manchester; Theresa I. Grosswiler, 68, South Washington Street, Pierceton. Police reported that both Pifer and Grosswiler were driving their vehicles southbound on County Farm Road. Both drivers reported deer running into the roadway and both said they applied their brakes, but Pifer was unable to stop her vehicle in time to avoid a collision with Grosswiler’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Driver: Elizabeth M. Kennedy, 30, West CR 445N, Huntington. Kennedy told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. She said she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
4:18 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, North Parker Street and US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Pamela J. Hymer, 59, Lehman Drive, Milford. Hymer told police she was stopped in her vehicle at an intersection when the driver of a white SUV began backing up. She told police she honked her horn but that the driver continued to back up until the vehicle struck her vehicle. She said the driver then fled the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
7:06 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, North SR 15 and Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Oakley D. Wagoner, 19, South McClellan Street, Warsaw. Wagoner told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 and began to brake for an upcoming intersection and realized his vehicle was traveling to fast to stop before colliding with another vehicle. He told police he swerved to avoid a collision and his vehicle struck a curb and guardrail. Damage up to $5,000.
5:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, North SR 15 and East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kip L. Chamberlin, 39, East Centennial Street, Nappanee; Brianne L. Fields, 20, West Noah Street, Claypool. Champberlin told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on SR 15 and began to brake for an upcoming intersection, but was unable to stop his vehicle before it struck the rear of Fields’ vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
