Library Board Passes Budget, Opens LULA Elevator Bids
WARSAW — The board of directors for Warsaw Community Public Library recognized one of their own, adopted next year’s budget and accepted bids for a new elevator at the regular monthly board meeting Monday, Oct. 15.
“Bruce Hively is here with Jeff Kumfer, who is our project manager partner with SRKM Architecture and they have been working hard on the LULA elevator project, design, specifications and with the state for approval,” said WCPL Director Ann Zydek.
Hively is the library’s facilities manager. He has been working with Kumfer on a project to replace the facility’s Limited Use, Limited Application elevator. At Monday’s meeting, Kumfer oversaw the opening of two bids for the project.
The library received a bid $158,690 from Milestone Construction, Inc. from Syracuse that included an alternate bid of $3,520 from the Cambridge Elevator Company. Board President Christopher Merrill opened the second bid, which was submitted by Strebig Construction, Inc. from Fort Wayne for $137,380.40.
Library officials will consult with Kumfer and mull the bids before deciding who will be awarded the contract.
The board also approved a proposed 2019 budget of $3,460,482 at a proposed tax rate of 0.1499 and passed a resolution to transfer $100,000 from the Rainy Day Fund into the general fund. Last year’s tax rate was approved by the board at 0.1472 but finished at a final rate of 0.1232.
Joni Brookins, assistant director, received her 35-year pin, according to Zydek, who made the announcement during the director’s report.
The next meeting for the library board is set for Monday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.
