Art In Action: Artisan Boutique Opens Nov. 3
By Darla McCammon
The highly anticipated Lakeland Art Association Holiday Boutique will open Nov. 3 and will be held at the Baker Youth Club, located at 1401 Smith St., Warsaw.
The time for the event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You and your family are going to enjoy the myriad of talent along with a chance to help the Boy Scouts with their food offering and for an alternate choice, a food truck will be available.
The cost at the door is an extremely reasonable $2. For this fee you will be entertained as you see the work of talented, unique, and genuine artisans from a wide geographic area who will enjoy sharing information about their exhibit and the items offered for sale that you will treasure.
Artists from across Indiana and Michigan will be on display with their wares which include metal sculpture by Sunday Mahaj, classic ceramic sculpture from award-winning Elizabeth Wamsley, and work by watercolorist and silversmith Mike Yazel. You can also purchase or view amazing one-of-a-kind jewelry by Roxanne Coffelt, photography by Paul Raiman, and Lynn Key from Michigan will offer “pebble art.” Wood creations will be available from Daniel Ford, a Michigan artisan. Erin Flores will display bath and body products and Megan Benion will offer handmade soaps and candles and more.
Original art in many different media such as oil, acrylic, pencil, pastel, and watercolor are sure to please. Brenda Stichter and her incredible abstract acrylics will have a space and June Yazel has a very creative way to help you make your own hand-dyed scarf. Claudia Carson, who consistently exhibits at LAA, will be on hand to help you with that special card for your loved one or friend. Kathy Schlipf of Milford will be there with her exquisite hand-woven work.
Have you seen block prints? We have JoAnn Tweedell from South Bend to demonstrate this creative art work for you. Pat Dillon will be there also with the incredibly turned handmade wooden bowls. Ethan Yazel will bring his watercolor works and his illustration efforts for the discriminating buyer.
This is only a partial listing of this exciting palette of talent that will visit Warsaw at the Baker Youth Club. Do plan to put this on your calendar and plan to visit this event that will help raise funds in so many beneficial ways for local non-profit Lakeland Art Association, Baker Youth Club and Boy Scouts.
The Darlene Romano photographic exhibit is now available for viewing at Warsaw City Hall Art Gallery on the main floor. New pieces will be interchanged during this exhibit. One piece was delivered to the Honeywell Clark Gallery where it was accepted into their famous and largest juried photograph competition show. Titled “Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge,” this large sepia-toned landscape will take your breath away.
City Hall Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Due to the proximity to the LAA gallery, an enjoyable time can be had by visiting both galleries and then taking advantage of the many fantastic eateries in downtown Warsaw.
City Hall is located at 102 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. LAA is located at 302 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw.
