Grace Athletic Notes: Oct. 12
WINONA LAKE – A pair of notes from the Grace College athletic spectrum for Friday, Oct. 12.
Grace’s women’s basketball team is holding a pair of events for the public on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Grace will hold a fan-friendly, public practice on Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Grace’s Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
Additionally, the team will host a free basketball clinic for girls between 3rd-8th grade after the practice at the MOCC. The clinic, conducted by the players and coaching staff of Grace’s women’s basketball team, will be held from 12-1:30 p.m.
The clinic will focus on developing fundamentals as well as fun, competitive games.
Both events provide the opportunity to meet and interact with the team and coaches. Grace is also launching Hoop Club, a big sister program to reach out to younger student-athletes. Girls who are interested can learn more about this unique club or even sign up by attending Saturday’s events.
Two members of Grace’s men’s tennis team earned a spot on the All-Crossroads League Team.
Max Rozas and Pavle Popovic, a pair of first-year Lancers, were named All-League for the Lancers.
Rozas impressed in his first season. He produced a sterling 9-2 record, playing at No. 1 or No. 2 singles. He was also 7-5 in doubles.
Popovic picked up 12 combined wins, including five in doubles. He went 7-4 while alternating with Rozas at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, and he was 5-7 in doubles.
