Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
5:29 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, North SR 13, south of East CR 150N, Pierceton. Driver: Kenneth G. Shepherd, 55, South May Drive, Cromwell. Shepherd told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 13 when two deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
10:42 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, North CR 100E, north of East CR 300N, Warsaw. Driver: David S. Hartley, 46, East Wellington Drive, Warsaw. Hartley told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on CR 100E when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:22 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, US 30, west of CR 450E, Pierceton. Driver: Gary Kuntz, 63, Rutland Court, Winona Lake. Kuntz told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:39 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, North Oak Street, east of West Railroad Ave., Syracuse. Driver: Tristan A. Leemon, 22, West Market St., Nappanee. Leemon told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 1300N when a vehicle in front of him stopped suddenly. He said that to avoid a rear-end collision, he swerved his vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole. Damage up to $2,500.
