Warsaw Man Charged With Strangulation Following Argument
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing several domestic violence-related charges following an argument with his girlfriend, according to Warsaw police.

Alec Nathanial Lee Haines, 21, 1508 Tippecanoe Drive, Apt. C2, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child present under 16 years of age, a level 6 felony; strangulation, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor. He was booked Oct. 5 in Kosciusko County Jail on $500 cash bond.
According to the police report, officers with the Warsaw Police Department were called to the Tippecanoe Drive residence on Sept. 14, to investigate a report of domestic battery. Police reported that at the scene, a woman told them that she and Haines had an argument and that she told him to either leave the residence or sleep on the couch. The woman told police that Haines refused to leave and put his arm around her, at which time she said she hit him. The woman told police that Haines responded by grabbing her by the neck and squeezing until she couldn’t breathe.
The woman went on to tell police that a child in the residence began to cry and when she attempted to feed the child, Haines smacked the bottle out of her hand, grabbed her by the arm, pushed her against the wall, hit her twice in the face and then choked her for a second time.
Police reported that Haines said he was hit by the woman in the face three times while he slept and that his response was to punch a hole in the bathroom door.
