Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
10:24 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, South CR 250E, south of East US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Hannah E. Shea, 27, Hepler Drive, Warsaw. Shea reported to police that she pulled her vehicle out of a gas station and began to head southbound on CR 250E, but said that her visibility was impaired due to frost on her windshield. Her vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage up to $25,000.
8:19 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, East CR 450N, west of North Maple Way, Warsaw. Drivers: Elayne T. Zalonis, 54, East CR 450N, Leesburg; Travis M Shively, 38, Etna Green. Shively was a police officer on patrol and called to the area of CR 450N to respond to a report of a reckless driver. Shively reported seeing Zalonis’ vehicle approaching his and reported seeing her headlights swerving back and forth. He slowed his vehicle down and engaged his emergency lights, but Zalonis’ vehicle struck his and continued eastbound. Shively turned his vehicle around and caught up with Zalonis’ vehicle was able to make a traffic stop. Zalonis was arrested for operating while intoxicated and failing to stop after an accident. Damage up to $10,000.
8:21 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, North CR 525E, east of east CR 200N, Warsaw. Driver: Skyler A. Harris, 21, EMS B12 Lane, Pierceton. Harris told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on CR 200N when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $2,500.
12:02 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, West CR 300S, east of South SR 15, Warsaw. Driver: Carla M. Smith, 51, South Loon Lane, Claypool. Smith told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on CR 300S when a train blocked the roadway. She pulled her vehicle off the roadway into a gravel lane to back up for a turnaround and backed her vehicle into the railroad crossing arm, shattering the back window of her vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
8:04 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, North SR 19, north of West CR 650N, Etna Green. Driver: Michael C. Damron, 25, North Walnut Street, Etna Green. Damron told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on SR 19 when a deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.
4:22 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, East Armstrong Road, east of North Old SR 15, Leesburg. Drivers: Joshua K. Hicks, 19, North Mullen Street, Syracuse; Jeffrey A. Currie, 42, North Happiness Drive, Syracuse. Hicks told police that a semi was turning with a trailer at the intersection where he had his vehicle stopped. He looked in all his mirrors but did not see the vehicle driven by Currie. He told police he backed his vehicle into Currie’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:36 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, Ranch Road and Fisher Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Alexander J. Garcia, 16, Ranch Road, Warsaw; Kristen N. Connors, 27, Ranch Road, Warsaw. Garcia told police he was driving his vehicle northwestbound on Ranch Road and was unable to stop his vehicle before it rear-ended Connors’ vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
9:49 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, US 30, east of Commerce Road Access, Warsaw. Drivers: Nathan J. Denna, 21, South County Farm Road, Claypool; Markeith I. Walkerosband, 32, Freedom Park Drive, Highlands, Calif. Denna told police he was in his vehicle and stopped at a stop sign on Commerce Road Access, awaiting to turn eastbound onto US 30. He said he saw a semi and trailer, but said he thought the truck was in the fast lane. He negotiated the turn and his vehicle struck the semi trailer. No injuries were reported. Damage up to $5,000.
7:33 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, East Center Street and North Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Paul G. Blair, 55, EMS B42C Lane, Leesburg; Jayme L. Nuno, 24, West Market Street, Warsaw. Blair told police he was driving his vehicle on East Center Street and attempted to parallel park when he pulled his vehicle into westbound traffic, causing the vehicle to be struck by Nuno’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
