LCA Stomps LPC, Advances To Final
EMMA – There was no mistaking the better side Thursday. Lakeland Christian Academy rushed past Lakewood Park Christian 7-0 in the opening game of the Westview Girls Soccer Sectional semi-finals.
LCA took a 2-0 lead into the break on the strength of goals from Jessi Calizo and Anna Reimink.
The two would find the net again in the second half, Calizo scoring two more to finish with a hat trick and Reimink getting one more. Tori Calizo and Carlie Wise added solo tallies to send LCA to the final.
Maddie Paris earned her second clean sheet of the tournament.
“It was a costly win,” started LCA head coach Nat Raber. “We lost two more starters in the first half who are seniors. I am very proud of the way the girls rallied around that and handled that challenge. It was another complete team effort. Our back line was great again. Not allowing many shots and making life easier on our keeper, Maddie Paris. Hopefully we can get healed up for our next one.”
LCA (13-3-2) will advance to the championship game Saturday at 2 p.m., where it will take on the host Westview Warriors, a 1-0 winner over Bethany Christian in the day’s second game.
A solitary tally from Lauryn Riegsecker was all it took for the Warriors, which are seeking its eighth straight sectional championship. Lakeland Christian Academy is seeking its first title as an IHSAA member school.
