Akron Woman Suspected Of Shoplifting, More Charges Pile Up As Result
WARSAW — When an Akron woman was caught shoplifting at Walmart in Warsaw, being held for stealing from that store would just be the beginning of her troubles.
Theresa Lynn Lawrence, 52, 8317 W. CR 1275S, Akron, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; two counts of theft, a class A misdemeanor with an enhancement for priors to a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
Lawrence was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on $5,250 surety and cash bond. She is scheduled for an initial hearing at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, in Kosciusko County Superior Court II.
According to police, officers were called to the Warsaw Walmart on Sept. 23, where store personnel had detained Lawrence for allegedly shoplifting $106.53 worth of store merchandise. The arresting officer searched Lawrence and found items from Ulta Beauty store, which police say Lawrence admitted to stealing. The officers then escorted Lawrence to her car, where they reported finding more items from Ulta.
During the vehicle search, officers also reported finding a glass smoking device that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as four plastic bags containing a substance that also tested positive as methamphetamine.
