Warsaw Man Faces Drug Charges After Overdosing
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing drug charges after a female found him unconscious from an overdose and called the police.
Nicholas Robert Henkler, 27, 1613 E. Clark St., Warsaw, is being charged with possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony, and possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony.
On Sept. 16, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to an overdose inside a residence. According to the probable cause affidavit, a female noticed that Henkler had been in the bathroom for some time and when she checked on him he was slumped over the toilet unconscious. The female advised she performed chest compressions on Henkler until the police arrived. She further stated that Henkler is under house arrest from Elkhart County.
The officer spoke to Henkler who confirmed he had overdosed in the bathroom. Henkler told the officer that he used heroin and flushed the rest of his drugs down the toilet. The officer searched Henkler and discovered a syringe that tested positive for heroin.
Henkler was arrested on Sept. 16 and has since been released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear for his initial hearing on Oct. 11.
