Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
1:52 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, SR 25, west of West CR 100S, Warsaw. Driver: Sierra R. Palmer, 18, West CR 200S, Warsaw. Palmer advised her vehicle slid on the wet roadway, sliding off the right side of the road and ending up in a field. Damage up to $2,500.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:13 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, North County Line Road, east of CR 133, Syracuse. Driver: Justin K. Sturgill, 22, North Huntington Street, Syracuse. Sturgill’s vehicle struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
6:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, East Bowser Road, south of South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Keri L. Fisher, 44, North Happiness Drive, Syracuse; and Marion L. Tarr, 81, EMS D11 Lane, Syracuse. Fisher advised she was on her cell phone with her mother, who was having heart issues. Fisher stated she ran the red light at the intersection of Huntington Street and Bowser Road and that her vehicle was struck on the driver side by Tarr’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:58 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, East Center Street and North Park Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Harlan M. Merchant, 68, Southwood Drive, Warsaw; and Amber M. Boyd, 40, Duncan Drive, Warsaw. Merchant stated he entered the intersection and did not see Boyd driving east on Center Street. The vehicles collided. Boyd was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital due to complaint of neck pain. Three passengers in Boyd’s vehicle, Cade Boyd Bernard, 8, Evan Boyd Bernard, 6, and Dylan Boyd Bernard, 4, all of Duncan Drive, Warsaw, were uninjured and were transported to KCH for evaluation. Damage up to $5,000.
1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, Dubois Drive and Provident Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Pauline H. Gabbett, 76, Birchwood Court, Warsaw. Gabbett made a turn while driving in the area of Pillbox Pharmacy. Her vehicle struck a median that separates the two way road from the one way road. Her vehicle also struck the base of a highway sign post. Damage up to $5,000.
9:59 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, West CR 350N, east of North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Alison R. Himes, 24, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Himes told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on West CR 350N when a group of vehicles stopped suddenly in front of her. To avoid a collision, Himes told police she swerved to the right, causing her vehicle to strike a fence owned by the Warsaw Municipal Airport. Damage up to $2,500.
8:54 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, East Center Street, west of North Lindberg Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Cinthia Velasco, 24, Charles Drive, Glendale Heights, Ill.; Mohit Baya, 30, Sand Castle Drive, Warsaw; and Cody W. Demske, 21, North Washington Street, Warsaw. Velasco’s vehicle rear-ended Baya’s vehicle, resulting in Baya’s vehicle rear-ending Demske’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:13 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, CR 250E and Pierceton Road, Winona Lake. Drivers: Austin T. Brewer, 21, North SR 13, North Manchester; and Lisa A. Garro, 48, South State Street, Kendallville. Brewer reported his vehicle slid on the wet pavement, striking Garro’s vehicle which was stopped at a stop sign. Damage up to $10,000.
7:47 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, Pierceton Road, east of Freedom Lane, Winona Lake. Drivers: Justin M. Deslauri, 20, Cherry Court, Hebron; and Thomas F. Keough, 24, East CR 225S, Winona Lake. Deslauri stated he was in a parking lot waiting to turn west onto East Pierceton Road. He advised he did not see Keough’s vehicle approaching eastbound on East Pierceton Road. Deslauri pulled onto the roadway, attempting to turn west, and his vehicle collided with Keough’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
6:55 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, East Winona Avenue and Lakeview Drive, Winona Lake. Drivers: Megan A. Lenn, 23, 13th Street, Winona Lake; Alvaro A. Aguillon, 20, North CR 175E, Warsaw; and Michael K. McKittrick, 61, Lakeside Drive, Winona Lake. Lenn advised she received a text message on her cell phone while driving westbound on East Winona Avenue. Lenn said she looked down at the text message, and when she looked back up the vehicle in front of her was stopped in the road. Lenn’s vehicle rear-ended Aguillon’s vehicle, resulting in Aguillon’s vehicle rear-ending McKittrick’s vehicle. Damage up to $50,000.
