Volleyball Results: Sept. 24
NORTHWOOD 3, JIMTOWN 1
NorthWood celebrated its senior class with a 25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 25-11 win over visiting Jimtown Monday night. The juniors had a say in matters, as well.
Senior Whitney Gessinger had a huge night defensively against an aggressive Jimtown squad, digging 25 attempts and added three aces, both leading the Panthers.
Juniors Maddy Payne and Kate Rulli were on the attack, Payne firing home 19 kills and Rulli adding eight kills. Payne also had five blocks.
Caroline Mullett added 40 assists, 13 digs, four blocks and two aces for the Lady Panthers.
The JV made much easier work of the Jimmies, 25-15, 25-9. Halle DeMien had seven digs and two aces, Alana Lehman had 10 kills, Bre Wise had six digs and four kills, and Annika Bennett had 18 assists.
NorthWood (22-7) hosts Warsaw Thursday with a slim hope of a share of the Northern Lakes Conference championship still there. NorthWood (3-2) can still tie for a share of the title with Plymouth (5-0), Warsaw (4-1) and Memorial (4-2) ahead in the standings.
OAK HILL 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 2
Valley and Oak Hill went the distance Monday in the non-conference tilt, with the Hill winning 19-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 15-8.
Stats for Valley were inflated from the wild affair, led by Sophie Bussard’s 20 kills and two blocks. Hannah Engstrand had 27 assists and four aces, Shayleigh Shriver had 19 digs and Makenzie Woodcox added a pair of blocks.
The JV contest was as crazy, with the Vikings winning 25-14, 25-24. Macy Kirchenstien had 11 assists, Brayden Baney had three aces and three digs, Bree Sheetz had seven kills and Mackenzie Costello and Hayley Backus each blocked three tries.
Valley (13-12) will take aim against arch rival Rochester in Akron next Monday.
NORTHRIDGE 3, WAWASEE 0
Northridge earned its first NLC win at Wawasee’s expense Monday in a 25-18, 25-10, 25-13 result in Syracuse.
Wawasee had Hannah Gaerte and Brooke Heche offer seven digs each and Madison Simmons had five digs. Elizabeth Kleopfer had 11 assists and two aces.
Wawasee won the JV game 20-25, 25-11, 15-9. Delaney Hare had an all-around game for the Lady Warriors with five digs, four kills and four aces. Leslie Vazquez had five digs and two blocks and Emma Dippon added six aces and three kills.
Wawasee (12-12, 2-3 NLC) will host Memorial Thursday.
EDGEWOOD 7TH GRADE 2, MILFORD 0

Edgewood beat Milford in both contests, winning the ‘A’ game 25-14, 25-8, and the ‘B’ game 25-12, 25-18. Stats for the games were not provided.

MILFORD 2, WHITKO 1
Milford lost to Whitko in the ‘A’ game 12-25, 25-15, 1-15 and won the ‘B’ game 21-25, 25-21, 15-13. Stats for the games were not provided.
