Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
8:51 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, North CR 450E, west of North CR 575E, Warsaw. Driver: Jenna R. Sam, 32, East CR 150N, Pierceton. Sam was traveling west on CR 100N when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
7:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, South CR 1000W, south of West CR 900S, Claypool. Drivers: Tertius Steyn, 22, East River Avenue, Warsaw; and Kalista R. Dobbins, 19, East CR 225S, Akron. Steyn was traveling west on CR 900S when he failed to stop at an intersection. Steyn stated there was a glare from the sun, which caused him to not see the stop sign. Dobbins’ vehicle struck Steyn’s. Steyn sustained visible injuries to his face and head and was flown by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. A passenger in Steyn’s vehicle, Hope A. Steyn, 21, East River Avenue, Warsaw, was fatally injured in the crash. Dobbins sustained an injury to her left wrist and was treated on scene by EMS personnel. A minor passenger in Dobbins’ vehicle sustained a minor cut inside his mouth and was checked by EMS personnel. Damage up to $50,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
11:12 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, North Harrison Street, near East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Joyce Hoskins, 67, Fellowship Drive 16, North Manchester; and Molly K. Long, 41, North CR 950W, Pierceton. Hoskins was traveling east on East Center Street and didn’t notice she had a red light. Her vehicle struck Long’s. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
10:53 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 3100 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Lona S. Makay, 68, Frontage Road Apartment 61, Warsaw; and Teresa A. Miller, 52, Frontage Road, Warsaw. Makay was backing her vehicle when she struck the side of Miller’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
