Celebrate Latin Culture At The YMCA
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Community YMCA will celebrate Latino Heritage Month with several events. They will start out with information, fun facts and photos displayed in their lobby, along with Latino music and a dance group performance outside at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24. Tours will be offered in Spanish at 5:45 p.m. and they will have Zumba, a group exercise class featuring Latin moves and rhythms, at 6 p.m. They will play the movie “Coco,” a Disney movie featuring Mexican culture, in the multi-purpose room at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome to attend.
A buffet of Latino dishes and a coffee bar will be featured in the lobby from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, ,Sept. 25. Learn about the culture of several Latin American countries.
On the final night of their Hispanic celebration, the YMCA will be offering a parenting class in Spanish, led by Gamal Hernandez from the Bowen Center, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26. The class will be for parents with children kindergarten through high school and will focus on communication, trust, being a good listener, bed time, discipline and how to help your children handle stress. Ivy Tech and Grace College will also be providing information about post-secondary education.
