Milford Public Library Announces Upcoming Events
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library will hold the following events in October.
Check Out The Great American Read
Time to get reading and help choose America’s favorite book. Choose from 100 iconic novels and vote to select “America’s Best-Loved Novel” with the Great American Read. Explore the full list and vote for your favorite book by Oct. 18 at pbs.org/greatamericanread. The winner will be announced on Oct. 23.
Most of the novels are available at Milford Public Library or available through interlibrary loan. Genres span from beloved childhood novels to classics to modern day bestsellers. Popular novels include the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn, “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline, and “The Martian” by Andy Weir. Classic novels like “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, and “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury are also represented.

Lapsit Begins This October
Lapsit for infants through three-year-olds begins on Tuesdays in October with sessions at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. Lapsit introduces your little one to literature using stories and songs t connect words to their meanings. Lapsit lasts about 20 minutes and will be available on Oct. 2, 9, 16, and 23. No library card is needed to participate. Meet in the library meeting room. Fall Story Time Begins Oct. 3
Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to Story Time at Milford Public Library to discover the joy of listening to great stories and using the library. Bringing children to this free activity helps them develop a lifelong love of learning and reading. Children will listen to stories, make a craft, and enjoy snacks. Story Time is also a great way to prepare kids for learning in an educational setting. Each week will cover a different theme such as scarecrows and pumpkins, leaves and apples, and the colors of fall.
Sessions are available at 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays or at 7 p.m. Thursdays. No library card is needed. Register now by calling (574) 658-4312 or e-mailing [email protected].
