BREAKING — Couple Sever Utility Pole, Escape Injury In Early A.M. Crash
MENTONE — A man and woman were uninjured when their charcoal-colored Dodge Journey left the roadway on SR 19 early Sunday morning, Sept. 23, and severed a utility pole north of Mentone.
County dispatchers called Mentone Fire Department personnel and other emergency responders to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at 2:07 a.m. According to an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, the couple were traveling northbound on SR 19 near West Welch Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the pole. When emergency responders first arrived, no one was in the vehicle, but the man and woman were located near the scene and refused medical treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but heavy fog was intermittent in the area of the crash.A crew from the utility company was called to respond to the broken pole and downed power lines.
