Volleyball Results: Sept. 20
WARSAW 3, WAWASEE 0
Warsaw used some big individual efforts to defeat its county rivals Thursday night 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.
Katie Swanson had an amazing 13 aces to go with eight kills to lead the Tigers at the Hardwood Teepee. Kylie Smith had 12 digs to pace the defense, Betty Barnett led the offense with 12 kills and Kacy Bragg had her usual all-around night of 24 assists, four aces and three kills.
Madison Simmons led the Warriors with seven digs, four kills and two aces. Peyton Rookstool had four kills, Elizabeth Kleopfer had 10 assists and Brooke Heche added three aces.
Warsaw won the JV matchup 21-25, 25-18, 15-8. Wawasee had Leslie Vazquez total up eight digs, five blocks and four kills in the losing effort. Warsaw did not immediately provide stats.
Warsaw also won the freshman contest against Wawasee 25-6, 25-19. Wawasee would beat Lakeland in freshman ball 25-11, 25-11 in an earlier matchup Thursday night.
Warsaw (17-6, 4-1 NLC) will take part in Saturday’s Warsaw Invite. Wawasee (11-9, 2-2 NLC) heads to Saturday’s Bremen Invite.
NORTHWOOD 3, NORTHRIDGE 0
The Panthers won its second NLC matchup of the week, downing Northridge 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 in Middlebury.
NorthWood was big at the net, with Maddy Payne and Kate Rulli combining for 20 kills and seven blocks. Whitney Gessinger and Caroline Mullett paced the back line with 31 digs, Gessinger adding four aces and Mullett 33 assists.
NorthWood won the JV matchup 25-21, 25-20 behind nine kills from Alana Lehman and 24 assists from Annika Bennett.
NorthWood (18-6, 3-2 NLC) will join the fun at Saturday’s Bremen Invite.
TRITON 3, LAVILLE 1
The Lady Trojans picked up a nice home win against the Lancers by a 25-16, 25-21, 17-25, 25-21 count.
The Viers girls were busy again for Triton, with Abbey posting 14 kills and Alyxa recording 13 digs and eight kills. Jaela Faulkner had a team-high 16 digs, Molly McFarland added 14 digs and three aces, and Dylanie Miller and Emma Hepler combined for 29 assists.
The Triton JV came out on top 25-19, 25-24.
Triton (4-13) will also play in Saturday’s Bremen Invite.
NORTHFIELD 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
The Norse won the battle of Scandinavia with an intense 25-16, 17-25, 25-16, 30-28 win against the Vikings.
Makenzie Woodcox had a huge night at the net, hammering 17 kills. Shayleigh Shriver had 12 digs and two aces, Sophie Bussard two blocks, and Hannah Endstrand 26 assists and two aces.
The JV game went to Valley 25-9, 25-15. Hayley Backus had five kills and a block to pace the Vikings.
Valley (12-8, 3-3 TRC) will host Oak Hill Monday.
EDGEWOOD 8TH GRADE 2, WAWASEE 0
Edgewood defeated Wawasee in straights, 25-13, 25-21. Katie McKibbin paced the winners with seven assists, four aces and a solo block and kill. Kaylee Weeks added two aces, two kills and an ace. Wawasee did not supply stats for the game.
EDGEWOOD 7TH GRADE 2, WAWASEE 0
Edgewood’s juniors also beat Wawasee in two, 25-18, 25-16. Paxton Baker had five assists and two aces for Edgewood, with teammates Lacie Walden and Audi Zon each with three aces. Wawasee did not supply stats for the game.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 8TH 2, ARGOS 0
Valley’s eighth grade team had no trouble beating Argos 25-8, 25-10.
Abby Koch led the Vikings with seven aces and three assists. Shaylin Wilcox, Karli Hogue and Emily McGriff combined for 21 aces.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 7TH GRADE 2, ARGOS 0
In the seventh grade game, Valley rolled 25-10, 25-12. Aces were the theme again, as Sidney Nelson had 11 aces for the Vikings, with Erika Henderson acing nine and Jessa Schroeder acing five.
BLAIR POINTE 6TH GRADE ‘A’ 2, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 1
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 6TH GRADE ‘B’ 1, BLAIR POINTE 0
Blair Pointe won the ‘A’ game 25-24, 15-25, 15-9. Emma Patrick had six points, Mackaylie Costello five points and a kill, and Avery Wagoner four points and an assist for the Vikings. The ‘B’ game went to Valley 25-24. Karegan Callahan had four points and Temperance Prater had three points.
BENTON 2, MILFORD 6TH GRADE ‘A’ 0
BENTON 2, MILFORD 6TH GRADE ‘B’ 0
Benton hosted Milford Thursday night and took care of matters in both contests, winning the ‘A’ game 25-12, 25-20, and the ‘B’ game 25-24, 25-8. Milford will take part in the Riverside tournament this Saturday.
